Community Access & Transport

Community Access & Transport

Reliable transport and support to help you access appointments, shopping, and community events.

How ClearStep can help

At ClearStep, we believe everyone deserves to be part of their community, not just on the sidelines of it. Our Community Access & Transport services are designed to break down the barriers that can make getting out and about a challenge, so you can live a full, connected, and active life.

Assistance with Social and Community Participation is an NDIS Core Supports budget. It is designed to help you take part in activities that build skills, independence, and connection with others.

What is community access and transport under the NDIS?

Community access supports can help you improve your ability to participate in community, social, and recreational activities. These supports are designed around your goals, interests, confidence, and independence.

Transport supports can help participants build capacity to travel independently, including training to use public transport, or support with taxis and other private transport options when a participant is not able to travel independently.

Why community access matters

Community participation can provide a sense of belonging and connection, deepen relationships with friends and family, expand social networks, reduce isolation, increase confidence, and help people feel safer in the community.

Barriers can include negative community attitudes, lack of accessible transport, and low confidence. At ClearStep, we work to actively remove those barriers for you.

What we offer

Transport to Appointments & Activities

Safe, reliable transport to medical appointments, allied health sessions, therapy, work, study, or community activities when disability makes independent travel difficult.

Shopping & Everyday Errands

Support workers can accompany you on shopping trips, grocery shopping, pharmacy visits, banking, and other essential errands so everyday life feels easier and more manageable.

Medical & Allied Health Appointments

We help you attend GP visits, specialist appointments, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other health-related appointments, providing transport and support throughout.

Social & Recreational Outings

One-on-one or group support to take part in community, social, and recreational activities such as events, markets, cafes, parks, sporting venues, and cultural activities.

Education, Volunteering & Work

Support to attend classes, training, volunteer placements, work experience, or work commitments as part of your social, economic, and community participation goals.

Public Transport Training & Support

If building travel independence is one of your goals, our workers can accompany and coach you on using buses, trams, and trains safely.

Group Community Activities

Support for individual and group-based outings, helping you connect with others through adaptive sports, arts workshops, social clubs, supported volunteering, and activities you enjoy.

Building confidence in the community

We support you to get out in ways that feel safe, meaningful, and aligned with your goals, whether that means attending appointments, reconnecting socially, learning public transport, volunteering, studying, working, or exploring your neighbourhood.

Important funding note

The NDIS funds your support worker's time and transport costs. It does not cover entry fees, tickets, course fees, or coaching costs. These remain the participant's personal expense.

Need help choosing the right support?

We can talk through your goals, your plan, and the kind of day-to-day support that would be most useful. ClearStep supports both self-managed and plan-managed participants across Melbourne.
